Community Update - May 2025

There are a couple of updates to pass along regarding various Sentinel communities, all gaming related.

Elite Dangerous

Cmdrs across the galaxy continue to grow the size and influence of the human bubble with the latest Trailblazers update.

Following a lengthy stay in the core systems, Sentinel has decided to venture back out into the black, searching for new worlds, and making some exobiology money.

Our carrier, SNTL Hearthlight (J1H-22M) is presently parked at Wregoe CC-D c12-7, with an additional 11 stops to go before its final destination. There is no return trip planned at this time.

The next scheduled jump(s) are planned for Thursday May 15th. Cmdr's seeking to meet up with the carrier should join our Discord for a detailed flight plan.

Prosperous Universe

SNTL has expanded into the browser-based space economy simulator; Prosperous Universe. There we are called The Sentinel Collective.

On the surface this is a spreadsheet game in space. But after almost 2 weeks with it, I can attest that there is more to it than just numbers on a screen. There is an engaged and supportive community, real supply and demand in a player run economy, as well as player run governments and corporations.

The scope of our work is fixed on agriculture production and some light hauling work, but it is only a matter of time before Sentinel expands into other industries.

A new tool is up to provide other players with the means to hire SNTL for shipping across the Hortus system. Head over to the Prosperous Universe community page for more information.

Planetside 2

Now more than ever, there is uncertainty about the future of Planetside 2.

Between the current developer being shutdown, the troublesome server migration/merger a month ago, and continuous rampant cheaters, Planetside is in peril. Sentinel operations aside, this is an unfortunate situation.

Frankly, there is nothing like Planetside 2 available from any other developer. In an age of plentiful extraction shooters, it's hard to see something like PS2 appearing again for a while. Combined arms MMO shooters come in only a few flavors these days, and all of them are milsims.

I continue to watch the situation on Auraxis with hope, but I fear that, without outside involvement or rescue, 2025 may be the last year of Planetside 2.

GTA V

I have debated whether the GTA V iteration of Sentinel is necessary, or even useful, for some time. After months of not playing the game, I have decided that the community pages will be archived this month.

I have no plans or intentions of purchasing GTA VI until well after release, as I'm already uneasy about the direction V took with their online moneypit. As the new game nears release, and more is known about PC availability and online modes, I'll share more.

MilSim Expansions

Sentinel has considered expansions into Arma III and Squad for a while. But unlike the persistent battles in Planetside 2, engagements in these games start and end, making any sort of planning or logistics difficult or unnecessary.

PS2 creates a unique scenario where Sentinel just works. That said, there is an interest in finding roles in Squad and Arma III.

If you are interested in starting and/or leading community spaces for these games, let Sentinel know here or on the Discord.
